Moda Bake Shop - Kristy's Dream

Today is the BIG Day -- Kristy's Dream is being featured on the Moda Bake Shop! With the fabric line from Moda, a reproduction study of William Morris's 19th Century prints, by Barbara Brackman.

An open note to the designer Barbara Brackman -- Your fabric line is beautiful and true to its historic origin! Having the layer cake gave me access to each and every print and of course I had a few favorites ..... but I could not resist playing with each piece. I only wish my photography skills could pick up the detail of each block.

Below ... Meet my oldest niece Kristy Lynn, the pattern's namesake -- Her dream came true when she became a Mom to four beautiful girls, Alleigh, Emma, Piper and McKinley. The first quilt -- used the gorgeous Moda fabric line "Boutique" by Chez Moi.

Thank you all for visiting today. I hope you take the time to visit the Moda Bake Shop and let me know what you think. Grab a cup of coffee, tea or glass of wine and then take a tour of Barbara Brackman's site -- and be ready for a trip back in time.

Moda Bake Shop Leftovers

When I made "Missy's Fall Garden" for the Moda Bake Shop Quilt, there were HST's left over -- 168 to be exact, which made 42 pinwheels. I added 8 more pinwheels from other scraps and started playing on the design wall. The results is this 72" x 72" Fall Companion Quilt, perfect size for a table topper.

For those who have not tried, or want more of these delicious calorie-free Moda Layer Cakes (42 precut 10"x10" squares), there is still time to sign up with Debbie at Fancy Girl Designs. Debbie will be selecting a winner on September 15th.

For more Show and Tell's, I am heading over to Amy Lou Who, to see what other finished projects are listed.

Moda Bake Shop - Missy's Fall Garden

I am so excited! Missy's Fall Garden has just come out the Moda Baking Oven and is now available at the Moda Bake Shop. Named for my second niece, Missy Marie, the quilt uses every one of the 42 10x10" pieces of the Layer Cake, "Awesome" by Sandy Gervais, for Moda. I feel like I just won the Lottery!

Speaking of winning --for those of you who have never had a layer cake, or those who want to enjoy more of this calorie-free delight, my friend Debbie, owner of the Quilting Niche' is offering a GIVEAWAY at her new blog, Fancy Girl Designs!

Stay tuned -- there is more. The "left-over" HST's from the top were used in another fall quilt, that I will show tomorrow for Sew and Tell Friday!

Thanks go out to Moda for allowing me to be part of this great group of chefs! How ironic -- I am soooo NOT a cook.

Take Care, Jamie

Quilting Progress

Only a few more of the large blocks to go, then I will start on the pinwheels. My goal -- is to finish this leftover companion to the Moda Bake Shop Feature coming out this Thursday, September 9th. Strange....when I took this picture, the chalk guide circles are bright and plain to see .... as I am quilting, it is a very faint line. It must be the camera flash.

The Moda leftover top is done! The quilting and binding should be done by this Thursday, September 9th, which happens to be the same day as "Missy's Fall Garden" is featured on the Moda Bake Shop. The leftovers are from the "Awesome" layer cake, made into pinwheels and combined with fabrics from "Fall Back in Time" -- both lines designed by Sandy Gervais for Moda.

Design Wall - Moda Leftovers

Only thing left, the borders. Of the 50 pinwheels, 42 came from the left-overs of a project using a Moda Layer Cake (42 - 10" x 10" swatches), "Awesome", by Sandy Gervais. The left-overs were combined with fabric in my stash from the "Fall Back in Time" by Sandy. The two projects are very different, but will blend very well.

If you are wondering where the other project is -- stayed tuned -- the quilt and the pattern will be featured on the Moda Bake Shop in September. My First!!! Excitement is not even the right word. I am going to try very hard to have the "left-over" project done around the same time.

For more design walls, visit our host Judy's Patchwork Times. As always, I can't wait to come home tonight to visit all those who have linked up.

Work in Progress - Fall Leftovers

Every so often, I take a break from quilting tops and add a few more pieces, then rearrange, then take off, then rearrange, then add, then ....... whew, I need more coffee.

Have a Happy Wednesday

Finished quilting the "Spicy Snowball" above, but will hold off showing until the binding is on. Yep, I BOUGHT ANOTHER LAYER CAKE!! This time, Origins by Basic Grey.
