"Modern View" Quilt Progress

Another peek at the Special Graduation Quilt blocks.  This picture does not have the sashing yet, but I forgot to take a picture of it when I had a chance.  The top is done but I am saving it for the big reveal after it is quilted and bound.  As I mentioned in a previous post, I had to modify John's design a little to be able to use the Layer Cake fabric, but it will basically look like his when done.

Blue Days.....

Angela's, Scrappy Rainbow Challenge this month is Blue.  I did not have a lot of blues for some reason.  I need to finish up a few stars, then I will be ready for June's Golden shades.

Blue Scrappy 16-Patches -- DONE!

Blue/Green Log Cabin Blocks -- DONE!

It looks like I will finish up with 8 blocks of Gold/Blue and 8 blocks of Gold/Pink.  Then I will use July color for the border.  I will also be ready to start a few different blocks to continue on the Rainbow challenge.

Graduation Quilt and Acappella

Finally, I am able to start sharing one of the graduation quilts.  The pattern used was modified slightly to use a layer cake.  The graduate is away on her Senior Trip, so I only want to post the piecing -- just in case she is watching.

My brightly colored Acappella is all quilted....WHEW!  This one took over a week.  I only have a little time in the morning before work and at night.  I also had to include a little "thinking" time as to how I wanted to quilt it. Once the binding is done, I will formally display.

Rainy Day Blues....

With all of the Blue Scraps all over the sewing room, you would think a storm came through.  They are now sorted and cut ..... ready for more sewing.  The Jacobs Ladder Blocks are done along with 16-patches.

I have added the Blues to the Wall -- by the time the Rainbow Challenge Ends, I will have enough to do 2 quilts using the Jacobs Ladder.  The blocks finish at 16" square.

Here is one of the reasons, I have been so quiet -- lots of quilting going on.  Graduation Gifts, Trunk Show Quilts and H2H Quilt -- all happening at one time.

Quilt Name:  Acappella
Designer:  Jamie Janow Elfert (Me!)
Size:  84" x 95"
Colors -- All of them!

I usually show the backings after the projects are done -- but this one is awesome.  I only had 6 yards and I was short about 5" of width.  So I added this brightly covered strip that has been in my stash for years.

Linking up with Sarah with Confessions of a Fabric Addict, at her Whoop Whoop Party.  And Angela with the Saturday Rainbow Challenge.

Have a Great Mothers Day!

Seeing Green!

The last weekend for updating my collection of GREEN blocks for the 2013 Rainbow Scrap Challenge

Above Block:  16" Jacob's Ladder.

When I added the other blocks -- I felt like playing....

.... and playing....

.....and playing....

Then, I added to my classic Rainbow Log Cabin -- and played some more.

Although this is the last GREEN weekend, we have a few more days in the month of April, so back to the machine!

Quilt Finishes

Purple 16-patches
Finished Size:  48" square

Finished Size:  84" Square

With these two finishes, I am motivated to keep going.  My quilting machine is just-a-buzzing and with several in line for loading, I am a happy camper.

It is Sarah's Whoop-Whoop Friday ........ since I have two finishes, I am linking up!  See ya there.

Green Wall

All of the blocks are done -- this one is a little different from the purple top I finished last week. I used a variety of backgrounds from off white to beige, which gave it a totally different look.  I also extended the X-Block into the border.
