Show and Tell - Acappella Quilt

A member of our local Cane Cutter Quilt Guild, Carol Martinolich, presented her two-color version of my Acappella pattern.  Carol's use of just two fabrics has a stunning impact. Thank you so much Carol for sharing!

And...perfect timing for the celebration of St. Patrick's Day.

Show and Tell, Acappella Quilt

I am so excited to have received pictures of Sherry Langley's Acappella...she did an awesome job.  The fabric is so romantic along with the soft quilting design she chose.

Acappella was my first pattern published by Black Cat Creations, so I could not be more proud.

Batik Acappella

I must have used about every color in my drawer of brightly colored batiks.  I auditioned a dozen borders until I found this brightly colored orange/red/yellow batik.  I love mindless piecing and this fit the bill.

A close-up of the quilting, I used the channel lock on my Gammill and love the results.  Once I came to the last block, I had finally found my rhythm.  The thread is a variegated red/orange.

Rainy Day Blues....

With all of the Blue Scraps all over the sewing room, you would think a storm came through.  They are now sorted and cut ..... ready for more sewing.  The Jacobs Ladder Blocks are done along with 16-patches.

I have added the Blues to the Wall -- by the time the Rainbow Challenge Ends, I will have enough to do 2 quilts using the Jacobs Ladder.  The blocks finish at 16" square.

Here is one of the reasons, I have been so quiet -- lots of quilting going on.  Graduation Gifts, Trunk Show Quilts and H2H Quilt -- all happening at one time.

Quilt Name:  Acappella
Designer:  Jamie Janow Elfert (Me!)
Size:  84" x 95"
Colors -- All of them!

I usually show the backings after the projects are done -- but this one is awesome.  I only had 6 yards and I was short about 5" of width.  So I added this brightly covered strip that has been in my stash for years.

Introducing --- Acappella

Acappella --- "A Salsa Dance of scrappy oranges without instrumental musical accompaniment." Riffle through all those different shades of orange fabrics (or your favorite color), put on your dancing shoes and start cutting!

Last year, I made the orange quilt for Judy Laquidara's Monochromatic Challenge at Patchwork Times using Acappela -- to date, this is my favorite quilt.

Amy with Black Cat Creations, has now patiently wrote the Acappella pattern using easy to follow instructions and is now available. I am so excited over my "first" pattern to be published. Be sure to sign up for Black Cat Creations Newsletter, for first hand notice of all their patterns and news.

Stay Tuned .... more to come!
