Good Fortune Mystery Quilt

On Black Friday 2018, Bonnie Hunter, of Quiltville Fame, introduced the first of many clues to her annual Mystery Quilt, called Good Fortune.  Although the clues wrap up in January, it has taken me time to bind, label and deliver to the new owner.

The border is a little different from Bonnie's original design only so I could enlarge the finished size and add something original to my finish.  Bonnie offers a downloadable Good Fortune pattern for this scrappy gem, with detailed instructions and photos.

For those wanting to participate in the 2020 Mystery, stay tuned and follow Bonnie Hunter's blog "Quiltville's Quips and Snips.  .  She will provide fabric requirements long before the first clue is introduced.  You can also find her on Facebook "Quiltville Open Studio", or Instagram.

Sunday Sample

And then there were three!!!  Making the blocks in between several other projects -- I'm sooooo not in a hurry.  My hope is Bonnie will continue to design for the Quiltmaker's 100 Block series until there is enough for a nice size quilt.

The newest block, top left, is called "Midnight Flight" and was published in Volume 4 of the Quiltaker's 100 Block collector's edition.  (Note:  I am not going in order of publication).

Sunday Sampler

It's time for another block for my Sunday Sampler quilt -- made from Bonnie Hunter's (Quiltville) scrappy blocks published by Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks.  Winston Ways (on top) was published in Volume 3 of the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks and is seen all over Pinterest made into awesome quilts.  When several of the WW blocks are made, they nest very nicely together and form secondary blocks.

Baby Patch and Pinwheel

The Patch and Pinwheel Baby Quilt has now been delivered and being used by a brand new baby girl.  The 60' x 76" quilt is a pattern by Bonnie Hunter, using blue/green fabrics.  I used larger blocks,  finishing at 8"; and added a 2" border.

Mountains on the Frame

The perfect guy quilt -- more specifically, a cowboy!  Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Mountain Majesties is all over the web and I just love it.  The quilting is a free-hand southwestern sun, edge to edge.  Nothing fancy and nothing frilly for this guy.  I only have a few days to finish it, with hopes of taking the ultimate "Cowboy Meets Mardi Gras" picture.  This "thank you" quilt has been a long time coming, so I am glad the time is near.

Happy Mardi Gras!
