Austin Family Quilt
This is the Austin Family Quilt that has grown to 95 x 95 (4.5" blocks) since this picture was taken. My wall is not large enough, so I had to improvise. I have added all of the signature blocks and started sewing the the rows together. The Family Quilt begins with my grandmother's sister, who married an Austin back in the 1930's. The family is huge and still growing, so I have left several blank signature blocks on the front, and will have more on the back.
A major undertaking that began last year, my cousin Ginny distributed the signature blocks through the mail. It was Ginny's idea and the work she put into getting the blocks signed must have been daunting ..... but she was determined and organized. The envelopes were mailed to my house and slowly stacked up, each containing the family blocks waiting for a place in the quilt.
