Summer Wedding Quilt, Show and Tell

A very special birthday girl, Nita Mazerac, has just finished her "Summer Wedding" quilt, using Kaffe Fassett fabric.  Nita  recently shared her beautiful quilt with our guild during Show and Tell.  This romantic version definitely has caught our attention.

"Summer Wedding" and other patterns are available through Black Cat Creations as a PDF downloadable or paper pattern -- Click on picture below for more information.

Summer Wedding Quilt

Today, I am so excited to share a "Summer Wedding" quilt, made by Granada Bourg.  Granada's version uses a variety of rich oriental fabrics against a black background and also adds a perfect piano key border..  Beautiful work Granada.

Summer Wedding Quilt - Show & Tell

It is always exciting to see someone making one of my patterns -- Summer Wedding, published by Black Cat Creations, has been very popular lately and I have permission to share four "Summer Weddings" by three quilters.

First up -- Susan Shaffer.  The Love Birds and Heart centered on the wedding gift made an elegant version.  Susan is a member of our local guild, so I was thrilled she selected this pattern.  Susan and her family own the Ardoyne Plantation here in Louisiana, therefore her eye for romantic southern charm is always reflected in her quilts.

Next we have Mihaela Moreno, who chose the scrappy version.  If you look close, there are pops of color all over.  On the close-ups, we can see the lovely swirls used in her quilting design.

The last two quilts were both made by Pamela Henya, a quilting celebrity, who is a Featured Quilter at the Heartland Kentucky Quilt show coming up this weekend in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.  Pamela also let me know she has a THIRD Summer Wedding in the works.  With her last name "Henya", I can see why she likes the "H's".

For more exciting quilts in the works, new patterns and Show & Tells, please join our little Black Cat Creations Facebook Family.

12 Days of Christmas - Give Away Winner

The "12 Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop", hosted by Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict, is behind us, so now it is time for us to start our projects for Christmas ... we only have 6 months LOL!

One lucky person has a head start -- Vicki in MN, will be receiving the Quilted Barn Quilt I made for the Blog Hop and two Black Cat Quilt Patterns.

I have emailed our winner Vicki,  for her mailing address.  If I don't hear anything by August 1, 2018, I'll pull another name.

Thanks to all who left a comment and visited.  If you make a "Quilted Barn Quilt" from my tutorial, or a quilt from any of my published patterns, please email me a picture or link to your blog  (address in profile) and I will share here on my blog.

Wedding Season! Panicked Yet?

Friday Finish!  Whoop Whoop!!

Weddings styles are forever changing -- as they should be.  However, one thing stays the same....we all want to bring a very special gift to the couples closest to us.  The traditional Wedding Ring Quilt is perfect, however for those intimidated by curves, "Summer Wedding" offers an EASY alternative.

Yes, I said easy.  Once you make the little "H" units (mindless chaining), the quilt comes together quickly.

A little chat about fabric choices.  I am a scrappy quilter...it's in my genes.  However, not everyone likes scrappy!  This pattern offers fun for both types.  My first "Summer Wedding" was scrappy 😄, and became the cover shot for Black Cat Creations, who published the pattern.

The second one below, just two fabrics --- but guess what --- I enjoyed it, because I used a large busy print of med to dark grays, copper, golds and blacks, with a light silver Kona background.  With a large print, each of the units will take on their own little characteristic.

Do you see a little modern twist???  And...I had plenty of space for fancy feather quilting.

SHOW AND TELL

First up -- our Birthday Girl, Bunny.  Bunny used a single light blue background and scrappy H's to make this beautiful lap size.  This pattern offers several sizes, king, queen/full, twin (pattern cover) and lap.

Next, Lynn used my scrappy version as a guide and made hers in the twin size.  Lynn is hiding behind the quilt somewhere, she is a cutie, but shy.

Last is Tina's twin version.  Look close, she used the open spaces to highlight her embroidered art.

Coming up this Sunday, I will be Sarah's guest blogger at Confessions of a Fabric Addict, when I will introduce my 2018 Hands2Help (H2H) Quilt and the pattern.  If you are not familiar with this  Charity Quilt Challenge, visit Sarah's link to her Hands2Help.  Hope to see you there.
