Monday Design Wall - June 7, 2010

When I started this blog in January, I made a committment to myself that my job would never come into the picture. However, since my quilting seems to increase under stress -- it is obvious there is a lot going on --- like an "Oily Mess". I don't think we have had this much coverage for hurricanes...even my boss has been on CNN!

To the left, my winnings from the Survivor Game (Immunity Idol Blocks) in which I came out 2nd. The rows of bright snowballs and backing for the plaid quilt.

Below right, is the plaid quilt on the machine which has been posted all week. On the left, the Red/White baby quilt -- which has a twin waiting on the cutting table.

The horror of the Lousiana situation affects all of us. All our best as there seems no answer to the problem in the foreseeable future. CNN coverage has been great BTW.

OMGosh, when I read about this horrifying situation, my mind is boggled that this has happened and nobody seemed to have a couple of GOOD backup plans (that were tested and worked)to deal with such a problem before hand.
I'm praying for a solution soon.

As a former Panhandle of Florida resident I am watching the spill and hateing what I am seeing: no wonder it has wandered into your blog. But your quilts are really nice and seem like good therapy.

Love all of your projects - especially the plaid. The oil spill is a tragedy for generations to deal with - no surprise you are stressed and quilting more. Quilting has been therapy for generations too. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats on winning the "Survivor" blocks. Love them (and the show!)
The most heartbreaking thing I have seen so far on the coverage (besides the birds) is the couple from Grand Isle that has all the crosses in their yard with sayings and words written on them expressing what this tragedy has taken from them--fish, shrimp, fun in the sun, family time. So sad to know that this is happening in our backyard. I know we'll all be on pins and needles thru out this hurricane season. (so to go on so long.
BTW---you are getting alot done!

OOps, I meant to say "sorry to go on so long!"

The Oily Mess is truly a shame. Love the plaid blocks and the red and white baby quilt.

The Oily Mess is messing with hubby's job here in Baton Rouge. He is in the oil and gas business. So we watch it with trepidation every day.

Love your idols, what a creative idea!
