I Wish You A Merry Quilt-A-Long, Block #2

My sister Phyllis and I have made Block #2 for the Christmas Sampler Project called "I Wish You A Merry Quilt-A-Long, hosted by several bloggers over the next few months.  Our first blocks were appliqued and were easier than we thought.  If you didn't see them...check them out here.

The Block below has been designed by Janda Bend Quilts and is titled "Tree Farm".

The next block will be introduced on August 29th, which is right around the corner.  Stay tuned.....

Sunday Sample, Block #6

Six blocks done!  They are playing so nice together.  The newest block finished, "Jelly Bean Blast" (top left) is Bonnie Hunter's block in Volume #7 of the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Special Edition.  For those just joining my fun little project, I am making all of Bonnie Hunter's blocks that she has contributed (and will contribute) to the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, published twice a year.

And......since this a growing Scrappy Sampler top, I think I'll join "Oh Scrap" linky party.

I Wish You A Merry Quilt-A-Long, Block #1

My sister Phyllis and I jumped on the Christmas Sampler Project called "I Wish You A Merry Quilt-A-Long", hosted several Bloggers.    The quilt-a-long started on August 1st, with new blocks introduced every other Tuesday.  With the HUGE collection of Christmas Fabric we have accumulated.  Block #1 was designed by Vanda at Quilt In Piece.

Neither of us have a lot of experience with applique', so this was a perfect start.  Mine is on the left (low volume) and Phyllis' is on the right.

We started with lining up those little boogers -- we pressed in horizontal, vertical and diagonal reference lines on the background to place the larger rays, double checked with a ruler and then took pictures with our phones to make sure they did not look drunk.  Then we added the smaller rays, pressed and set the Heat-N-Bond.

Last step was to applique with a thin zig zag using my favorite light weight thread, "Glide", which has a perfect sheen.  Glide is also my favorite quilting thread.

Sunday Sample, Block #5

Well, here I am....five blocks done.  Loved making the "Big Bang" block, which is Bonnie Hunter's from Volume #6, in the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Special Edition.

I just can't decide which one I will do next -- may need to toss the numbers in a hat to choose.
