Well -- almost finished! I still have the binding, however this will be done by machine. I am using the Utility Quilts to practice the binding by machine. Even though my sister does my handwork, I have wanted to do this for some time now, especially those quilts that will be washed and used many times over.
And the back -- I love using the big prints from my stash for backing -- I just don't want to cut up the beautiful designs.

I love the backing, I agree, I like using big prints for the backing too!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in this happy, scrappy quilt. Perfect fabric for the backing. Had never really considered using big prints for backings. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteWhoop whoop! It's gorgeous, Jamie - front AND back! By the way, crazymomquilts has a great tutorial for machine binding - I do almost all of mine that way now!
ReplyDeleteCount me in with the love for the backing fabric group - what a happy print! It's great seeing how all these scrappy quilts turn out!
ReplyDeleteLove the top and back. Someone is going to love this quilt.
ReplyDeleteI always thought of utility quilts as ones of an extremely simple pattern, or coarse whole cloth. Yours is lovely. I too love the large pattern on the back.
ReplyDeleteI love using big prints for the backing, especially when I'm practicing something new as it doesn't show the mistakes! Yours is very bright and fun.
ReplyDeleteFantastic quilt, quilting and love the backing.
