I have a Scrap System that is semi-organized (thanks to reading Bonnie Hunter's system years ago). Chunks go into a large duffel bag or one of the large color coded plastic bins. Every so often, I'll pull out a hand full, iron them and cut into various sizes. I have a small plastic pull drawer labeled with different sizes (1 1/2", 2", 2 1/2", 3 1/2" and 4 1/2").
Deciding the size to use on a scrappy "leader/ender" (another Bonnie-ism) is easy .... the box that is over flowing! My current fascination -- the 45 degree angle. I'm using 3 1/2" scrappy strips with constants of light pink Kona background and deep magenta pink accents. I made a cheater paper template taped on the back of a ruler (my template is about 1/4" short on the bottom, because I like to see thru the ruler to line up the fabric.
The scrappy units are stored in a bucket as they are cut. When my little design board is running low, I pull from the bucket and sort by color. The little design board used can easily move out the way.
I am so lucky to have a huge design wall...stretching about 13' wide, floor to ceiling high. Now that I have several blocks made, I have added this project off to one end ---- marinating. Also on the wall, two secrets... a graduation quilt and a retirement gift. In addition to the design wall, I have several flat plastic boxes accumulating blocks from the 2018 Rainbow Challenge; our local guild's block of the month; and blocks made from the Quiltmaker's Special Addition 100 Blocks for various future projects.

I had to convert feet to meters to exactly find out how big a design wall you have and all I can say is "you lucky devil!!"
Oh, that design is awesome! Makes me want to drop everything and.... but no, must stay on track!!
