Colorful Finish

"Checkerboard Twist" is done --- This pattern was published in the 2008 Winter Fons and Porter's Easy Quilts and designed by Mimi Wellington. The yardage requirements for the backing was more than I had left, but a few scrap blocks inserted off to the left and I had enough.
 And the front .....

I just had to share more "Jolie" pictures (my new great niece) -- don't you wish we could read their minds behind those changing expressions -- especially the bottom right hand corner.

On the first day Mommy (Samantha) had to return to work, Jolie was so happy to see her that evening.

I am joining Quilt Story's Fabric Tuesday today with a link to my finish.

Monday Design Wall -- New Project

A quickie little project called the "Checkerboard Twist", this pattern was published in the 2008 Winter Fons and Porter's Easy Quilts and designed by Mimi Wellington.  I started and finished the blocks in one afternoon -- VERY EASY!

All of the other projects I am working on are in line for quilting.  They will need to be sorted by deadlines and be ready for a quilting marathon.  Since the long-arm arrived, you would have thought I could keep up -- but she has only given me more reasons to start new projects.  So much fun.

Monday Design Wall links up are happening at Judy's Patchwork Times.  See ya there.

A Finish and Update

The "Pink Ribbon Social" is a fund raiser for Breast Cancer Awareness.  I used my favorite pattern, "Blue Me Away" and went pink!
The wind was slightly blowing, so I had a hard time catching a flat picture.
My DH helped show the backing with the florals and pink ribbons -- I need to buy more of this fabric.

A close up of the quilting -- I just love my long-arm.  I have been asked if she has a name yet -- well yes, sort of..."Grunt" is her name -- because of the small space in my sewing room, I have to pull her away from the wall when using her and then push her back when done.  There is a lot of GRUNTS when doing this, even with the casters.
This is the last time you will see the Musical Pinwheels until it is done.  The last row of blocks is all I have left to sew together, then it is coming off the wall to sew the rows together and place in line for quilting.

I am joining Quilt Story for their Fabric Tuesday today.

Design Wall - Musical Pinwheels

Almost done, the top above will be ready for quilting after I find a backing.  The focus blocks are 8 1/2", the framing is done with 1 1/'2" x 8 1/2" strips of solid Kona White and four 2 1/2" squares, and the pinwheels are 4 1/2" -- all of these measurements are unfinished.

Off to work -- linking up at Judy's Patchwork Times.

Monday Design Wall / BOM Update

The brightly colored Musical Pinwheel Top is coming along slowly.  After work, I hope to spend an hour on the long arm, then piece a while, then back to the long arm.

A bad day -- above is two sets of blocks for the BOM hosted by Quilt Story.  I forgot the BOM's were only 9 inches and made a set 12".  Starting over, I recalculated and made them too small --- hence the addition of the middle strips with a center accent..  The larger blocks will end up on the back, or maybe pillows.

Today I am linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times and Quilt Story for the BOM.

Projects Updated / H2H Finale'

Sarah, Confessions of a Fabric Addict, has opened a link for the H2H Quilts.  Because I mailed off mine over a month ago, I almost forgot to link up for the big finale'.  Actually, the quilt has traveled to Sarah in Tennessee and will be traveling back down South for the NOLA Project, just over an hour away from here.

The May BOM (hosted by Jackie with Canton Village Quilt Works)  is done -- this block was submitted by Cathy at Cabbage Quilts, called Jewel Box.  Of course, like previous months, I have made two.

The queen size "Winner's Circle" kit from Regina's Quilt Kits, Inc is coming along.  I have finished all of the diagonal curves and about half way done with the corner units.  This is going to be a big one, so I have gone out and bought a large batting -- nothing in my closet will be big enough.  Thank goodness for "Michael's Coupon of the week.  The backing will have to wait for the owner -- I want to make sure Mary Ann likes the choice.
