H2H Update

I am participating in Hands 2 Help. We have exchanged fabric with an assigned partner (Kathy's fabric on top); added from our stash (mine on the bottom); and joined together we make a quilt for charity.

Sarah (Hands 2 Help host) has asked us to write something random about ourselves. Hmmmmm.... After majoring in Music for one year in college, I changed my path to business for a degree in Accounting, and a career with government. If you ask me what I do -- "I am a CFO" ..... if you ask me what I am, "I'm a quilter".

I am now heading over to Sarah's to link up and see what others are up to.

Friday Finish - Field of Violets

Donald and Aaron's garden is also the backdrop for the finally finished "Field of Violets" (February Color in Judy's Patchwork Times Monochromatic Challenge). I have the pattern started and will introduce it later in the year after I make another sample -- how about something "scrappy" ???? I have accumulated a list of 5 (still growing) of you who emailed me wanting the instructions. I will send each instructional step as they are completed in hopes of a little proofing from friends before going global :)!

There are really only 2 blocks: a 16 patch from 2" strips and "chubby pinwheels" from 3 1/2" blocks of violet and 2 1/2" of background. The tiny pinwheels are the cut aways from the "chubbies".

Closeup of the quilting -- an all over pattern of feathers and flowers in the centers and corner panels, with a little detailing in the center framing and side triangles.

Today is "Good Friday" down in South Louisiana ..... it is also a day of Boiled Crawfish and quality time with Family.

Over at Sarah's, she is having a party of her own -- the Whoop Whoop Friday! If you have something to show off, head on over to Confessions of a Fabric Addict and "LINK UP".

Relay for Life -- Black and Gold

Sharing the "Spot Light" with this gorgeous garden, is my Black and Gold finish for the 2011 Relay for Life. I just picked it up from the Quilting Niche', who quilted their magic with a pattern of Fleur De Lis.

Many thanks to Donald and Aaron for the use of their amazing garden of paradise. I wanted to stage my quilt everywhere ... but I saved many of their little vignettes for future quilts.

I will also be joining Sarah at her "Whoop Friday" party and linking up at "Confessions of a Fabric Addict". If you have something to share, be sure to join in by linking up!

When your Plate is Full - Get a Bigger Plate

We all have a long list of things to do. Whether we work at home or have a job outside the home -- we probably all have full plates. I have several quilts on my list, for charity fund raisers and special friends ..... HOWEVER, I have a special blogging friend Sarah over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict who has partnered with Judi at Green Fairy Quilts for this awesome challenge. Visit Sarah and read all the particulars and sign up.

Stash Report and EQ Layout of Stars Over Scott

I recently finished this top (Stars Over Scott) using years of border scraps. When I finish quilting it, I will provide the instructions, which should take me about 5 minutes, since the block is a simple "Half Square Triangle". I still don't design in EQ, however it is great for documenting those designed on my wall.

My stash report looks much better this week. I have two (2) quilts to count as done -- both will be shown with my Friday Finishes.

Finished this week, (24.75)

Finished year to date, (44.90)

Purchased this week, 5 (for a backing)

Purchased year to date, 48.75

Net, 3.85 --- getting closer to breaking even, then I will start busting toward the 150 Goal for 2011.

I will be linking up with Judy, so for more Stash Reports, visit Patchwork Times.

Stars over Scott

Scrap quilts always make me happy. "Stars Over Scott" was especially fun to make as it was born on the design wall playing with the 5" blocks. I have been testing the borders this week and have settled on a green inner border, and brown print outside. I will sew them on tonight and will hopefully start quilting it.

I am joining Sarah over at her Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Whoop Whoop Friday. If you have something in the works, be sure to link up and share.
