Graduation Quilt

All of the quilting is done, the binding is ready to attach and needles threaded for hand work.  It is about time!

I have been in Texas the last couple of weeks off and on.  Unfortunately, it was not a vacation, but rather the goodbyes to my sister-in-law of 37 years.  Christine left behind my brother Tiger, their two daughters, Kristy and Missy and six grandchildren.  Not to mention three sisters, a brother, sisters-in-law and MANY nieces and nephews.  The family came in from everywhere visiting as she slowly slipped away.  Then, rather than mourn her passing, our large family came together and celebrated her life.

It is now time to get back to work... to start, I can't wait to  join Sarah at her Whoop Whoop Friday Linky Party.  I have been watching from the side-lines (rather my IPAD -- thank goodness the hospital and hotels had WiFi).

Yellow Bling!

I could not just show the yellow stars for the So Scrappy Rainbow Challenge, so I pulled out the others and played with them on the wall.  As each color is added, I have to rearrange anyway, so taking it on/off is fun.

Batik Acappella

I must have used about every color in my drawer of brightly colored batiks.  I auditioned a dozen borders until I found this brightly colored orange/red/yellow batik.  I love mindless piecing and this fit the bill.

A close-up of the quilting, I used the channel lock on my Gammill and love the results.  Once I came to the last block, I had finally found my rhythm.  The thread is a variegated red/orange.

Rainbow Log Cabin

I will need to wait until July to find out the color for the border -- probably will do a simple piano key, or maybe something else simple.  For now, I will put aside and work on all of the other projects.

H2H Happy Chemo

We have had rain today -- so my hubby was nice enough to stand in the drizzle so I could quickly snap a picture.  I used the green 16-patch blocks made as part of the So Scrappy Rainbow Challenge, which was perfect timing.  I made a purple one too, which went to a local friend undergoing treatments for cancer.

A little Sunshine

What a difference a little yellow/gold makes!  I only have eight more blocks to finish this rainbow log cabin.  They were almost done, but I am tired and heading off to sleep.  I quilt for a while, then piece for a while....but I will finish those last eight tomorrow.

The So Scrappy Rainbow Challenge has helped decrease the colorful scraps these last 6 months and I am anxious to see what is in store for the rest of the year.

ZZZZZZZzzzzzzz.........
