Weekend Accomplishments

For the Saturday "Orange" Soscrappy day, I finished six interlocking stars and added six purple ones.  I have several pinks cut out and will work on them during the month.  The background is a Moda light gray -- I have been wanting to use this gray and I think I have the perfect vehicle from my magazine stash.

Finally -- my sampler quilt is bound and on the bed.  I finished the binding by MACHINE!  Oh happy day.  I have four quilts waiting in line.  This quilt was part of a monthly BOM project last year:

On the machine, a tiger print bound purple project -- I have set the machine to the slowest speed, added many pins and taking my time.  When I finish it, I will take an outside picture.

Easy Street and Oranges

This morning, I did a little string piecing with orange stragglers for So Scrappy Saturday.  Each block ended up 8' -- so together we have a 16" unit.  Then I dug through the box of UFO's and found a little green hexie project -- no telling how old it is.

I see a little pillow cover -- or maybe the start of something larger.

The big job of the week is quilting Easy Street (Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt we did over the Christmas and New Year's holidays).  I did the darker areas in green thread, then starting from the bottom, working my way back to the top, I have changed to a wheat color thread.  I see a lot of recliner duty to hand sew the binding on, because this is huge.

AND....because I had a few computer issues last week, here was the "Orange" wall from last Saturday that I worked on for Angela's So Scrappy Oranges.   A few pink/purple whacky logs were added and a couple of orange 16-patches.

There is a mess in my sewing room right now and I have to blame Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  As soon as she announced the 2013 H2H Charity Challenge, I started pulling fabric and playing. I have a little control, no cutting yet.  This is Sarah's third year and I am with her all the way!

Special Binding!

Animal print binding is ready to go on the "Baubles and Beads" quilt made from the free McCall's Pattern.

A peek of the backing -- very purple!  Next on the quilt frame, "Easy Street" from Bonnie Hunter's Mystery -- going to be a BIG ONE!

Ladies Night Out - Finish

The 7th Ladies Night Out Gala to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness is coming soon -- March 15th.  My quilt donation has been finished and delivered -- and as you can see, I could not resist taking pictures of the quilt when I made the delivery to my friend Paul -- his yard is awesome!  A true work of art.

Another view of the yard -- the quilt was only a prop to get more pictures of the glorious pool.

Updated info:  The pattern used - "Stars Over Scott", designed by Jamie Elfert, a free pattern available on this site.

Pink, Purple and ORANGE

To continue the Rainbow Scrappy Saturday -- I just finished 8 more log cabins for the wall.  The first 8, combined pink /purple and this month is Purple /Orange.  The setting is not permanent, I just wanted to show the progress using the 2"strips this weekend.

The blocks finish at 10 1/2" square (11" unfinished).  If I make 8 each month for 6 months, I will have 48 blocks for a nice size quilt.  Even with three more Saturdays left in March, I have put a dent in the orange bucket. Before the day is done, I will cut through a few more scraps to make nice neat strips and blocks --- then I'll be ready for next week.

An Orange Sunday

A "Rainbow Challenge" Saturday update fell into Sunday.  Simply, I had to work.  I LOVE the color orange.  If you look to the right, the Acappella pattern (published by Black Cat Creations) was born from my love of orange.  I have plenty of orange scraps (many left over from Acappella) and looking forward to having fun with FIVE Saturdays of orange.

As you can see, the orange blocks bring life to the Rainbow Design Wall.
