Monday Design -- Jolie quilt done.

My wall is empty because I have finished a special project for a new baby, named Jolie due any day. Jolie's first cousin Alexis is standing here helping. I used the same pattern as the H2H Challenge Quilt, except the center was made with just 2 colors.

H2H Update

Sarah, at Confessions of a Fabric Addict has a link up for those of us participating in the H2H Challenge. My quilt top is now loaded on the rack ready for quilting. This is the 5th Quilt on my brand new Gammill and I am getting better at loading the tops. It takes a while, although it is very easy.

I have named the H2H quilt pattern -- I am calling it "Jolie". In a matter of days, I will be a great aunt for the 18th time. I made two of these quilts, one for this challenge and the other for Jolie. I delivered the finished quilt to her mom Samantha this afternoon and have pictures for tomorrow.

Monday Design Wall

Heather and Megan are hosting a simple Block of the Month project over at Quilt Story. I have been having so much fun with my new quilting machine, I forgot to post my April Blocks with HSTs above -- shown with March blocks. Leaves and Diamonds showcase the HSTs from an original design by Marcia Hohn at The Quilters Cache.

Finished except for the hand work, Stars Over Scott in Red is done -- the 2nd Finish of the Year, and the 2nd Finish on my new Gammill. I am sticking to my favorite patterns so I can get used to the feel of the machine -- it is very different than a home machine (obviously), but similar in movements.
The top is done for the H2H Challenge hosted by Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict. I hope to be quilting it by the weekend -- however I need to finish the Relay for Life Quilt Below.
Dance of the Tiger is almost done -- After I finish the borders, I am moving it to my Janome for simple straight stitching. I need more practice before on straight lines (even with the ruler, it will take time). I will post the last step for this quilt -- adding the borders --- later this week.

Wish Comes True -- Gammill Style!

Last week, a new addition arrived in my home -- A Gammill Vision 18-8! The perfect size for me. Mark with Stitch N Frame, drove several hours to make the delivery and teach the basics in a well-organized 5 hour in-home class on Friday. By Saturday morning, the demo fabric Mark left behind for the class was full of practice stitches . By Saturday afternoon, I had loaded my first quilt top below -- made long ago from scraps.

Don't look too close -- using free motion, I went to town with one of my stand-by patterns from the "home machine" days. I tried the rolled patterns furnished with the machine on the practice fabric, however I prefer free motion. If I stay with free motion, I hope to get much better. My sister Phyllis prefers the rolled patterns and laser light.

#1 all done -- just need to do the hand work on the binding.

#2 is here on the machine -- feathered borders and all! I will show you the top later after the binding has been added. Next in line -- the 2012 Relay for Life Quilt due next week. I can't wait.
